Biography
The West coast future machine never sleeps. From its roots in the post-War years developing radar and missile guidance systems through the dawn of the web, the rise of social media to today’s artificial intelligence (AI) boom, Silicon Valley is the engine of global innovation. And its role has never been more important – and disruptive. With AI, the Valley is architecting the most consequential advance since the advent of the Internet. In 2023 alone venture capitalists have ploughed more than $25bn into AI start-ups building bots to handle customer service calls, to AI doctors, copywriters, lawyers and software developers. Some jobs will disappear. Humans with AI co-pilots are producing at superhuman levels. The definition of work, of corporate efficiency, of low-cost operation, are changing fundamentally and in real-time. AI is the next infrastructure layer on which industries will and must be built. Businesses ignore this revolution at their peril.
