Biography

In 2009 the Audit Commission placed Haringey’s performance in the bottom four in the country and Ofsted placed the schools in the bottom nine in the country for children’s services. At the coalface of austerity cuts, with the legacy of Baby P and Victoria Climbie, Nick was at the centre of a hugely ambitious turnaround whilst still delivering a regeneration and service agenda. And all against a backdrop of a highly politicised environment and an era of rising social inequality.

In early 2017 Nick took up a new role as Chief Executive of the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA). The HCA is leading the government’s drive to increase the scale and pace of delivery of house-building across the UK with a primary focus on serving households with lower then average incomes.

Nick became CEO of Avision Young in June 2022. Avision Young sets out to create economic, social and environmental value as a global real estate advisor, powered by people.

Nick is an hugely engaging speaker who talks with brutal honesty about how, in the face of great uncertainty, you can create cultural change and the leadership traits needed to do so.
