In recent years there’s been an explosion of interest in the power of purpose.

At an organisational level it has become critical to inspire, attract and retain talent, customers and the community.

At an individual level, business experts make the case that purpose is a key to exceptional performance, while psychologists describe it as the pathway to greater well-being. Doctors have even found that people with purpose in their lives are less prone to disease.

Purpose is increasingly being thought of as the key to navigating the complex, volatile, ambiguous world we face today.

Between 4 – 9 February 2024, Wavelength’s The Power of Purpose tour will provide 16 leaders from the worlds of business, social enterprise, charity, and the public sector with the opportunity to travel to India, to go inside what Wavelength believes is the world’s finest organisation – The Aravind Eye Care System in Madurai, India – and to find and explore their own personal purpose and embed it into their leadership.

The Power of Purpose 2024

Visit one of the world’s most purpose-led, highly revered organisations and find and define your personal leadership purpose.

What are the key elements of the programme?

1. Aravind Eye Care System – Deep Immersion

Aravind is the world’s largest provider of eye care and unequivocally one of the worlds most admired organisations.

No other organisation on earth combines their clarity of purpose with world-beating operational excellence, productivity and profitability to achieve social impact at staggering scale. Since its inception in 1976, by its then 58-year old founder Dr V, Aravind has been rigorously focused on its purpose of ‘Eradicating Needless Blindness’. Theirs is a culture that is the embodiment of humility, dignity and respect, and a service model that includes the most excluded. Aravind’s open-source business model has also enabled over 300 hospitals globally to join them in achieving their purpose: ‘To Eradicate Needless Blindness’. World class purpose. World class productivity. World class profitability. World class culture. World class social impact.

Aravind quite simply serves as a model for the rest of the world.

2. Power of Purpose Workshop

Following your deep immersion into the Aravind Eye Care System, a dedicated workshop will help you explore, articulate, and distil your personal purpose into a concrete statement and embed it into your leadership.

The workshop will be led by Tim Munden, former Chief Learning Officer at Unilever using a methodology developed during his tenure. 56,000 Unilever employees participated in these one-day workshops.

Find, define and articulate your purpose and live a more engaged, resilient and fulfilled life.
